Leah and Lane Meet Grandma and Papa - July 28

Mom and Dad celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary a few weeks ago and in anticipation they booked an all-inclusive vacation to Mexico - for two. They asked if Grandma and Grandpa Mason's  schedule would allow Leah and Lane to come and stay with us. They immediately said we would make it work. Upon further examination they decided it would be a great time to take a vacation, and so we wouldn't feel left out they would take us somewhere.

After looking at several options they decided on Gatlinburg. We came down here last year with mom and dad and Chad and the Wolfe's, and loved it.

Today Dad and Grandpa Rod (Jyl's dad) left Pekin, Ill. and Grandma and Papa left Clinton, MS and met at Lambert's Cafe in Sikeston, MO. Lambert's is the home of the thrown rolls. Lambert's is fun, you get lots of food, and it is fairly good, not great, but good.

After eating and transferring luggage we started the long trek from Sikeston, to Angie and Justin's in Somerset, Ky. We had not seen them since the wedding.

After a few potty breaks, a stop for McDonalds, a detour that cost us an hour of time, we arrived at about 10 pm their time, and of course stayed up very late talking.

The funniest moment of the first day was when we stopped at McDonald's. Papa needed to break a $100 bill so he paid for our supper with one. Lane was amazed that Grandpa had that large a bill. He asked, "Where did you get that." Grandpa said, "I have been saving my money for this vacation." Then grandpa showed him 4 more. At that Lane screamed "Grandpa has $400." Of course every one in the restaurant quickly looked to see who he was talking about. We got out of there before we got robbed.
